The Orchard is delightfully situated close to the Ashdown Forest
within rural East Sussex. Ashdown Forest covers 6000 acres and
caters for the horse riding enthusiast and ramblers alike. A
maze of tiny country lanes are ideal for cycling. Both the Wealdway
and the Vanguard Way, two of England's famous walks, are closeby and
lead up on to the Ashdown Forest.
The picturesque garden leads down to an attractive woodland
Dell which is abundant with wild flowers making it a haven for
wild life.
Good food is available from the village pub "The Maypole" or
the Crow and Gate which are only a short distance away. Nearby Barnsgate
manor Restaurant and Vineyard is open daily for lunches and delicious
afternoon cream teas!
20 minutes drive will take you to the Spa town of Tunbridge Wells, with
its large shopping centre and famous Pantiles, its well worth a visit as
is the old town of Lewes to the south. We are ideally situated for visiting
the abundance of local tourist attractions including the Bluebell railway
and for Winnie the Pooh fans the world famous Pooh bridge for a game of pooh
sticks is a must.
